Apple’s App Store to offer magazine subscriptions

Magazine publishers offering iPad versions now can sell subscriptions through Apple’s App Store, according to a New York Times blogpost. Apple Inc. will take 30 percent of subscription revenue that comes through its App Store, allowing publishers to keep 70 percent, the blogpost reported. But publishers that sell apps outside of Apple’s App Store can keep all of the revenue. The mobile App Store includes more than 30,000 app titles, though many are offered for free, the Wall Street Journal reported recently.
